Staff and customers at three Sainsbury’s stores – Letchworth (Third Avenue), Stevenage (Magpie Crescent) and Marshalwick Lane in St Albans have chosen Carers in Hertfordshire to be the stores Local Charity of the Year through a vote in store and online in June.
The partnerships will last a year and staff will help raise funds and awareness for our work identifying unpaid family and friend carers and providing free advice and support for them.
Linda Cudmore, our Community Fundraising Lead, said: “Thank you to all the staff and customers at the three Sainsbury’s stores for voting for us, we appreciate the support. The partnerships will help us reach out to Hertfordshire’s hidden carers to let them know about the free advice, courses and support we provide and raise funds to enable us to make carers count. We help carers stay well and healthy and have a life of their own outside caring.”
Linda continued: “We look forward to working together with each store during the year.”
We have already held a fundraising weekend at Sainsbury’s Letchworth and have collections and bag packing planned. We will be in store from October 12th – 14th and November 23rd – 25th.
Nick Rusher, Store Manager at Sainsbury’s Letchworth, said: “We had a very successful launch for our new Local Charity of the Year, Carers in Hertfordshire. I’d like to thank all of our customers for their support on the day and am looking forward to lots more successful events over coming months.”
We are launching the partnership at the Sainsbury’s Local in Marshalwick from August 31st – September 2nd and will be at the Stevenage Magpie Crescent store on August 31st.
Linda said: “We want to make the most of the partnership and need volunteers who may be able to spare a few hours to help when there are fundraising events in store. If you can help please get in touch.”
