Season’s greetings and thanks

As 2024 wraps up, we want to wish everyone, including unpaid family and friend carers and our volunteers and supporters, a happy and safe festive season! If you’re in Hertfordshire and provide unpaid care or help to someone close to you who is ill, disabled, elderly or misuses drugs or alcohol, remember we are here for you. We aim to to make sure you are identified, informed, supported, and heard.

The festive season can be challenging for carers, so we’ve prepared a few tips that may help you navigate this holiday period and shared details of some organisations that could offer advice or support (with details of their opening hours). You can find the information on our Festive tips and support for carers page.

If you need support, our Advisors are available throughout the festive break (except bank holidays). Reach out via email at contact@carersinherts.org.uk or call 01992 58 69 69 (Monday-Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 9am-4pm).

Many people will take this time of year to reflect on the last 12 months or past and perhaps make plans. If you look after someone close to you who is ill, disabled or elderly, and they wouldn’t manage without the help you give them, please take some time to think about how you are feeling. Consider if there is any support you need to make your caring role easier, whether there is anyone you can ask to help you, and book medical appointments if you have put these off. You may find some of our services such as mentoring, carers’ groups and workshops and events helpful, particularly if you’ve not accessed them before. Ask us about how we can help you.

Thank you to the businesses, organisations and individuals who have supported us through volunteering or fundraising, or by donating services or goods. You have shown incredible kindness and helped make a vital difference to local carers – children and adults.

Over 43,000 carers and former carers are currently registered with us and there are thousands more hidden carers in Hertfordshire. We look forward to working with our community and partners in 2025, our 30th anniversary, to continue providing information and support to carers. Please do get in touch if you want to support us in any way.
