Carer Engagement Network Meeting: Dementia

  • Wednesday 21st August 2024, 10.30am to 12.30pm.

The Carer Engagement Team are creating a new Dementia Carer Engagement Network for carers who wish to Have their Say to improve the Health and Social Care Services for the people you care for.

This new Network will focus on topics and issue that are current for you and we will aim to work together to create solutions to these issues you face and in the first instance take forward to the Co-Production Board organised by Herts County Council.  These boards aim to bring people together to have their say on local services and influence how they may be delivered in the future.  More information about the boards can be found here https://www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/about-the-council/how-the-council-works/partnerships/coproduction-boards/co-production.aspx

What is in it for you?

    • Influence decision makers with Health and Social Care
    • Gain information and knowledge relating to your role
    • Learn from and support other carers supporting someone who is older

To launch this network we are delighted to have Dr Melanie Handley from the University of Hertfordshire to talk about the MEDAL study – Modelling the Experience of living with Dementia and Long-term conditions. This 18 month study is taking place in 3 geographical areas, Hertfordshire, Peterborough and Leeds.  It is seeking to understand interactions between people with long term health conditions and their family carers and services.
