  Charging for Social Care and Support and Financial Assessments

  We would like to invite you to join this information and guidance event delivered by Jotham Wanyoni Head of Service, Care Reform- Finance, Income and Charging at Hertfordshire County Council (HCC).

  HCC wish to provide financial information and guidance relating to paying for care and support (social care costs) to carers of adults (aged 18+) who have a learning disability, and/or autism, and/or physical disability and to carers of older people who are using community or residential services.  This would include people who are in supported living accommodation, their own family homes, extra care or sheltered housing but not residential or nursing home care.

  There will be an opportunity to comment on and share your thoughts on this information and guidance.

  They will be hosting two different sessions, and each session will be held both in-person and online – see relevant links below for full details. Please see below full details of each sessions topics and dates.

   

  Session 1: Demystifying Charging for Social care and Financial Assessments

  • What can be included as a Disability Related Expense?
  • Who can families discuss this with?
  • What can families do if they don’t agree with the decision about how much someone is required to contribute towards the cost of their services?
  • What happens if you can’t afford to pay the contribution

  In-person on Tuesday 16th April 2024, 2pm to 3.30pm.

  Online on Tuesday 23rd April 2024, 7pm to 9pm.

   

  Session 2: Charging for social care and Financial Assessments

  • What information is currently available?
  • How do you find it?
  • What other information do carers need?
  • How can we make it easy to find and understand the information provided?

  In-person on Thursday 25th April 2024, 10am to 12pm noon.

  Online on Thursday 25th April 2024, 7pm to 9pm.
