Carer Engagement Volunteer

One of the services we offer to unpaid family carers is the opportunity to attend Carer Engagement Events across the county to have their voice heard towards improving services for themselves and the people they care for. More information about the Engagement team can be found at www.carersinherts.org.uk/have-your-say. We are looking for volunteers to help with the planning of these events and supporting the running of these events on the day and is a very flexible volunteering opportunity.

Social Media Volunteer or Unpaid Work Experience Placement

We are increasing our use of social media and need someone with the skills to help us – whether you can help out short-term or ongoing. The role will involve assisting in creating or editing social media content for the relevant platforms, helping compile a list of handles for organisations and individuals the charity works with and assisting with uploading content or scheduling content for posting.

Young Carers Activity Volunteer

Would you be interested in working with and/or supporting young carers? We work with young carers aged 4 right up to 18, providing exciting activities and events for young carers across Hertfordshire. We would love to welcome a friendly volunteer to join our team!

Young Carers Admin Volunteer

Volunteer Ambassador

Carers in Hertfordshire relies on dedicated volunteers to help reach as many unpaid carers as we can. Volunteer Ambassadors attend events on behalf of Carers in Hertfordshire in their local area. 3 in 5 people will become a carer at some point in their lives. So many carers tell us they wish they had known about the advice, information and support that we and other organisations can provide much earlier in their caring ‘career’. We want to change that!

Volunteer Events Assistant

Want to meet new people and volunteer with our fundraising team? We rely on a brilliant team of helpers to make our events happen.

Our team of volunteer events assistants and staff love what they do! No event day is the same and no matter which event or activity you choose, we’re sure you’ll have lots of fun meeting some fantastic people whilst supporting our cause.

Administration Volunteer

Carers in Hertfordshire is looking for a volunteer who could help us with general administration duties across several services, based in our Hertford office.

Mentor Volunteers

Mentors support unpaid family and friend carers on a 1:1 basis, providing a listening ear and helping carers to set small goals that will help them feel less isolated, have more social contact, increase their confidence and knowledge about available support.

Keep in Touch Service Volunteers

This is proactive role that benefits carers and can be done at home. We ask you to ring 5-10 carers each week. The carers are not expecting our calls and you will get a list with new names each week.

Carer Trainer

Carer Trainers provide training to health and social care professionals and university students to influence and inform future good practice. Through sharing lived care experiences, they offer powerful insights to help organisations recognise how they can support and deliver more carer friendly services. The aim is to seek improved outcomes for both carers and workers in health and social care.

This role is different to other roles listed here. The role can be either paid or undertaken in a volunteer capacity. If you are interested, you will be put in touch with the Carer Trainer Project Worker to discuss your options.

Carer Support Hub Group Leaders and Helpers

We run 16 Carer Support Hub Groups across Hertfordshire which meet once a month at regular times. We are looking for new Leaders to run our groups in Berkhamsted, Bishops Stortford, and Chorleywood. We welcome applications for Joint Leaders if people want to share the role. We are looking for confident people who like working in teams and have an understanding of caring. Good communication skills are important. We would also welcome volunteers to help make drinks or greet carers at the Hub meetings.
